WHITE LIGHT
FEATURE DOCUMENTARY
George Gittoes's (Love City Jalalabad, SFF 2013) latest film focuses on South Side Chicago, a suburb with worse gun violence statistics than any active war zone of the last two decades.
Englewood, South Side Chicago (aka Chi-Raq) has worse gun violence statistics than any active war zone of the last two decades. Interviewing friends and family, Gittoes documents the young victims, such as 'Prince of the Streets' Solja and Kaylyn, the gang's guardian angel said to be protecting them from the grave. Gittoes explores why these civilian deaths are happening and highlights the ways the community is working to bring peace and end the cycle of revenge and retaliation.
